Sloan Memorial United Methodist Church
Pastor Leroy (Lee) Elder is a native of Belzoni, Mississippi, a small town in the Delta.  The Delta is “where the blues was born and the birthplace of American music!” He is an avid lover of music, history, sports, traveling, and reading. Lee has an undergraduate degree from Jackson State University, a Master in Management and Public Administration from Webster University; Master of Divinity at Saint Paul School of Theology.  Lee is also an Army Veteran. Prior to entering ministry, Lee worked as a corporate buyer for a major aircraft manufacturing company.  In addition, volunteering in the community has been an important part of Lee’s life since he was a youth and he considers serving others an essential to a well-rounded life. Lee loves preaching and teaching God’s word. Also, Lee firmly believes in the sacred worth of all human beings, because we are all made in God’s image. Lee is married to Chanda Mayers-Elder and they are the proud parents of Elizabeth Joy (age 9) and Olivia Monroe (age 7).

Our Mission and Vision

Biblically-Based and Grounded in the Word of God
OUR MISSION – “Go and make disciples of all nations.” – Matthew 28:16-20
OUR VISION – “Witnesses doing greater works.” – Acts1:8; John 14:12
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “Is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” –Mark 12: 28-31; Matthew 28: 16-20

Remember this:  Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should GIVE what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things and at all times, having all that you need,
you will abound in every good work2 Corinthians 9:6-8
